More than 80 experts from various locations were connected remotely to perform the Full Speed and Full Load test.
The successful FETT leveraged Baker Hughes’ turbomachinery remote testing capabilities to overcome travel restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
Baker Hughes is an energy technology company that provides so- lutions to energy and industrial customers worldwide. Built on a century of experience and with operations in over 120 countries, its innovative technologies and services are taking energy forward – making it safer, cleaner and more efficient for people and the planet.
In December 2018, NOVATEK selected Baker Hughes for the supply of LM9000 aeroderivative gas turbines for the Arctic LNG 2 Project. Baker Hughes has invested in producing uniquely designed engineering and manufacturing tools, test beds and equipment for the LM9000 in its Florence and Massa facilities in Italy. Remote testing capabilities became necessary to overcome travel restrictions imposed by COVID-19.
The test took place at the company’s advanced turbomachinery testing facilities in Massa, Italy: more than 80 experts from various locations were connected remotely to perform the Full Speed and Full Load test. Remote witness and support technology, such as Kiber 3 Kit, the all-in-one AR solution for industrial operations, enabled real-time and seamless sharing of machine inspections and virtual testing performed in Massa with the extended teams around the world.
The successful test completion of the LM9000 turbine, performed through the use of Kiber System, allowed an important step forward in the on-time delivery of Arctic LNG 2. Kiber helped to:
• Guarantee operational continuity and respect of deadlines
• Execute tests on machinery remotely and worldwide in a simultaneous mode
