An integrated wearable system for industrial use made in Pisa, which integrates technical tools, cross reality, and Android apps
The debut of the new version in Houston, for the world forum of energy companies.
The new Kiber K3S will debut in Houston, Texas, the remote and assisted collaboration tool that will allow field operators, anywhere in the world, to be connected and interconnected with their company.
Kiber K3S is a lightweight wearable system that allows an operator to interact with multiple parties connected remotely, sharing technical tools and Android apps in a physical-real mixed environment, therefore without the need to travel all the people involved to the place of intervention. Used in industrial contexts such as power generation plants, offshore platforms, marine, or more generally in high-risk areas or for logistical simplification needs, Kiber K3S is intended to operate for construction, maintenance, testing, inspection and training.
With the Kiber K3S system, the field operator is able to have access to a wide range of supports: through the advanced AR / XR K3 Web assisted collaboration system or with more common video conferencing apps such as Microsoft Teams, he can share his activities with remote experts, who are able to see the intervention environment live, interact with it through augmented reality, provide indications by sharing data, measurements, images and any necessary information. From today, moreover, the operator will also access all the apps and content available on Android smartphones directly from the powerful displays of the K3S. The Italian company was invited to present Kiber K3S at the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas (United States of America), the first world forum for technological innovations in sectors related to energy production.
“The United States and the world of energy are among the main markets for Kiber K3S technology and we are very happy to be able to present in Texas the new features and integrations of the system, which have been developed in response to the feedback collected among our customers and partners, to respond to a constantly evolving market”, said Federico Gulletta, CEO of VRMedia.
Among the new features of Kiber K3S, there are a more powerful processor, the ability to tether with your Android smartphone and to access and reproduce any document or application on the phone on the viewer, including access to company ERP systems, greater operational efficiency of field operators and faster problem resolution, thanks to the ability to harness the full power of 5G networks.
After Houston, the Kiber K3S helmets will be presented to the utility world at the World Utilities Congress in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Kiber K3S is created by VRMedia, a deep-tech company founded in 2002 as a spin-off of the Scuola Superiore S. Anna of Pisa and specialized in augmented reality technologies at the service of companies. The company has a team of 30 collaborators and has received funding for 6 million euros from two investment funds, Vertis Venture 3 Technology Transfer and Rif-Fondo per la Ricerca e Innovazione.
